Advice. ideas. inspiration

Anita's Garden is a semi-organic urban homestead located in Manukau City, only a 20 minute drive from downtown Auckland.  The garden contains a broad range of both edible and ornamental plants.  There is an extensive vegetable potager and herb garden.  We have a dedicated rose garden consisting of fifteen different standard roses.  We also grow a number of flowers year-round, including bulbs, annuals and perennials.   We have developed a mini orchard consisting mainly of dwarf fruit trees, in order to increase our level of self-sufficiency.  Anita's Garden was originally created in 2013 but is ever-changing and evolves constantly.  Each season sees plants at a different stage of their life cycle, so there is always something bound to be flowering or fruiting when you visit.

Our garden has featured in the April 2017 edition of the New Zealand Gardener Magazine, New Zealand's leading gardening publication. Click here to read a full-text version of the article.

I was placed Runner-up in the Yates Spring Veggie Growing Challenge in 2018.

I run a boutique plant nursery from home, selling a variety of flower and vegetable seedlings.  For those outside Auckland (but within New Zealand), I can send plants via mail order.  To stay up to date with available stock, please see the pinned post on my Facebook page. I offer a garden maintenance service.  I also host workshops so I can educate locals about how they can also grow their own fruit and vegetables to feed their families, reduce grocery bills and improve their health.  I do floral arrangements for all occasions upon request, as well as tours of the garden.  If you wish to visit Anita's Garden, please contact me directly.
